Cacao Banana Smoothie

A delicious, protein filled, healthy Cacao Banana Smoothie to help you recover after a long work out and keep you full and energized all morning long.

This Cacao Banana Smoothie recipe is one of my all times favorites! It is just so simple to make yet full of flavor. The best part is you only need 5 ingredients, which you probably have at home. Just place your frozen banana, dates, cacao protein, nut milk and almond butter in your blender and blend until smooth. You can adjust the flavor by adding more bananas or dates for sweetness, cacao protein for chocolate flavor and almond milk for extra creaminess.

Plant Protein Cons

For the Cacao protein, I like using Sunwarrior Chocolate Warrior Blend. Sunwarrior’s Proteins are 100% plant-based and soy free which is why I like them so much. This one, in particular, has also a complete amino acid profile (vegan proteins usually lack one or more amino acids making them incomplete proteins) which helps your body recover after your workout. Plus it has no sugar.
Other brands I would also recommend are Vega all in one shake and Garden of Life Plant Protein Powder. All of the options I am giving you are plant-based powders the mains 3 reasons are:

  1. Plant-based proteins contain many of the nutrients found in plants like fiber and iron.
  2. Plant-based proteins are hypoallergenic which means you won’t have any problems digesting it.
    3.. Plant-based proteins are lower in calories, sugar, and fat. So you know now, next time you are in the protein aisle go for the vegan protein.

Ingredients

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 scoop cacao protein powder
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 3 dates
  • 1 cup almond milk

Instructions

  • 1. Place the frozen banana, cacao protein powder, almond butter, dates and almond milk on your blender and blend until smooth.
