Breakfast Recipe for Kids: How to Make Egg in a Hole

Egg in a hole is a quick and easy breakfast recipe that requires only three ingredients. Sometimes it’s the simplest things that taste the best.

I was debating whether I should add this recipe to the blog or not. And the reason is that it is so simple that I don’t think it requires a lot of explanation. However, I ended up deciding to share it since it is sometimes the simplest recipes people are looking for. Especially if you are a parent and don’t have a lot of time to cook.

Kids love this recipe and if they are old enough they can even help in the kitchen. My son is still to join to be able to help me but if you have older kids have them help you. A great way kids can get involved is to help to make the hole in the bread. You can even get creative and use different cookie cutters to make it more fun.

Perfect Egg in a Hole

Cut a circle from centers of bread using a round cookie cutter (Bread circle can be cooked along with rest of bread or reserved for another use).
Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little bit of cooking oil.
Place bread in the skillet. Break an egg into each hole in the bread. Season with salt and pepper. Cook slowly until eggs are set and bottom of bread is browned. If desired, turn over and cook top of the egg.

Notes: Place your toast over some greens and add some avocado!
